Different Types of Cranes

Crawler Crane

-this type of crane is mounted on an undercarriage together with a set of crawlers that make it stable and can move freely. This machine can lift up to 3500 US tons.

Mounted Crane

-these cranes are generally use when working on job sites or construction sites as these cranes are being mounted on trucks they are easy to transport and be use on one place to another. This usually lifts upto 1300 US tons.

Rough Terrain Crane

-          This is a crane that is also mounted on an undercarriage but the difference of it with a crawler crane is that the undercarriage of it has 4 tire wheels. These cranes are designed for pick and carry operation and for rough terrain operations.

Floating Crane

-          These cranes are usually used on building bridges and constructions of ports. These cranes are also used on lifting salvage sunken ships under water and can lift with the capacity of 10,000 tons.

Railroad Crane

 -these cranes have flanged wheels that are equipped for railroads use. This is just a simple crane machine on a railroad vehicle.

Tower Crane

-This crane is being fixed into the ground and usually use on construction of tall buildings as it has the best combination of lifting capacity and its height.

Aerial Crane

-          Is commonly called as sky cranes as they are helicopter designed to lift heavy materials for shopping centers and high-rises place.

Self Erecting Crane

-          Often called as kangaroo cranes. These cranes are tower type crane which are being lifted with the use of jacks. They can grow as tall as building as it erects.
